I was an discount ugg boots despiser until I got a pair...Yes, I'm a recent UGG boot convert - there. The truth is out. Of course, I will never admit that to my friends who would kid me endlessly about having a pair of UGG boots. But, these sheepskin boots have won me over.
My history with UGG boots started just last Christmas (2011) when I received a new pair of UGG Australia Classic Short Boots as a present from my boyfriend. I will say that I was a bit put off by my new Ugg(ly) boots as he knew how stupid I thought the UGG brand boots look. But, he also had read reviews and knew that I would grow to love my UGG boots. Which I have - a thousand fold.
The UGG short boots in the picture are identical to the ones I got for my Christmas present. And then....I was wearing them on John's new boat when I took an unceremoniously dip in the Chesapeake Bay the following January - I thought they were ruined, but, I'm happy to say that they thawed out and are good as new. There's a video below showing my poor frozen UGG boots the morning after my dip...
And a disclaimer before we go any further: UGG boots were not created to be winter boots! They were actually created in Australia as a boot for surfers to wear when they came out of the water, hence, no socks needed - that's one theory. The other creation story floating around is that sheep herders created the things for wearing around in the outback when wrangling sheep. Since most UGGs are made of sheep skin, I find that idea mildly offensive as I sure the sheep did too...
Whatever the reason, the fact is that UGGs are not meant to be worn in inclement winter weather. Oh, they'll keep your feet warm but they'll suffer in the name of fashion. UGG boots get soggy and sort of get sad looking when wet. I do wear mine in the winter but I'm careful about when and where I wear them.

My frozen Uggs - But, my UGGs survived!This video shows John and my frozen UGGs the day after I took hit the drink in January, 2011 in the Chesapeake Bay. I'm pleased to say that my UGGs thawed out and, with the use of newspaper stuffed in them to hold their shape as they slowly dried, they were as good as new.
My frozen Uggs boots Cleaning UGG bootsI was afraid my new Christmas present UGG short boots were ruined after they were dunked in the Chesapeake Bay and then froze overnight. But, I hit the internet and found some ways to help them regain their former glory. Here's what I figured out:
1. Never, ever put cheap ugg boots boots in the dryer! It will totally ruin them. I left mine a safe distance from the wood stove for a full week. I put them on a cookie sheet covered with newspaper as they dried out because some of the color leached out. I couldn't even tell that they weren't the original shade though.
2. If you get your UGGs wet, rinse them well in clean water a few times. Do NOT wring them out or they will lose their shape!
3. After rinsing your UGGs, fill them with crumpled newspaper so that they hold their shape as they slowly dry. Never put them in direct heat or sunlight as they're drying.
4. After they're dry, brush them with a soft brush and apply UGG cleaner and, ultimately, the protectant solution. It worked great!

I can never ever find a pair of socks that match so this quality alone made them a winner in my book.
UGG boots actually keep your feet cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Now, I don't wear mine in the summer but UGG boots seem to be a favorite of celebrities in Hollywood. I personally think they look ridiculous with a pair of shorts. Regardless, in the winter in Maryland, it can get pretty cold so if it's one of our cold, blustery, dry winer days (no precipitation on the ground or planned), I'll pull on my cheap ugg boots short boots. My UGG boots protected my tootsies every time I wear them - well, except for that "swimming with the fishes" day. I was FREEZING all over.
I also think that UGG boots look really nice with a pair of jeans tucked in. I like to be comfortable yet try to be as fashionable (ha!) as possible. I have a pair of straight legged jeans that go great with my ugg boots sale UGG short boots.

The UGGliest UGG boots... - ..at least, that's my opinionI have no doubt that these cheap ugg boots boots are comfortable, but I find them perfectly hideous! Part sock and part shoe, I'm not sure what statement UGG was making with these beauties but what comes to mind is "Egads..."

How about an UGG purse?I didn't know that UGG purses or UGG flip flops exist (they're detailed below) until I went looking out of curiosity. I do really love this bag but I just bought an expensive purse in Key West so that's my splurge for about 6 months. You go right ahead though.
